Bicester Athletic Club’s Sportshall teams started this season’s campaign with an excellent and exciting first match of the Oxfordshire Sportshall League season at the Bicester Sports Centre. With lots of athletes making their debuts for the team there were fantastic performances.

The under 11 girls had an excellent match finishing just two points off of a maximum score. Rushani Arumugham and Millie Couzens took 1st place in the 3 laps races, and jumped to 1st place in the vertical jump. Amelia Cox, Erin McDonnell, Katie Ford, and Georgie Cordy bounced to 1st in the speed bounce competition. Cordy and Abigal D’Silva took 2nd place in the chest ball push. With Emilia Sims the 4 x 1 lap relay teams took 1st place. The girls finished the match in 1st place.

The obstacle relay team of Sean Lock, Cameron Stock, Joseph Conway, and Cameron Scarlett got the under 11 boys team off to a fine start with a 1st place. In the 1 lap races Stock, Josiah Edwards-Giraud, Thomas Kavanagh, and Ellis Griffths-Brown stormed to 1st place. Kavanagh and Lucas Williams took 1st place in the 3 laps races.

The boys were in dominant form in the 4 x 1 lap relays taking 1st place even allowing for a recovery after dropping the relay baton. The boys finished the match in 1st place.

The under 13 boys went one better than the under11 girls by dropping just 1 point in their match which they dominated from the start to finish. Harvey Attril and Tom Couzens took 1st places in the standing triple jump, and the2 lap races. Fergus Jones and Caelan Coney jumped to 1st place in the vertical jump. Jones teamed with JJ Welham to take 1st place in the 4 laps races, Jones then teamed with William Sims to win the shot putt competition. The boys rounded off their match with another 1st place in the 4 x 2 lap relay.

The under 13 girls had a tough scintillating match against good teams from Banbury and Radley. Lauren Garside, Ellie Laurie, Orlaith Lyford, and Isabelle Kinsella-Miles got the girls off to a fine start with 2nd place in the obstacle relay. Kinsella-Miles and Alice Daniel took 1st place in the vertical jump. Lyford and Holly Griffiths-Brown ran superbly for 1st place in the 4 laps races. The girls finished in 2nd place, just 3 points behind Banbury, and 1 point in front of Radley.

The under 15 teams were in fine form. Rhiannon Penfold jumped to 1st place in the standing long jump. Emma Ford bounced to 1st place in the speed bounce. Olivia Stock took 3rd place in the 2 laps races, and 2nd place in the standing triple jump with Yolanda Martin jumping to 3rd place. The girls finished their match in 2nd place. The boys also took 2nd place overall with Connor Wilce jumped to 1st place in the standing long jump. Zak Wilce took 2nd place in the standing triple jump, with Tom Gould taking 3rd place. With Lewys Jones, and Alex Jack the boys took 1st place in the last event of the match, the 4 x 2 laps relay.
