Eleven athletes from Bicester AC took part in the 2nd round of the Chiltern Cross held on Saturday 7th November at Teardrop Lakes, Milton Keynes.  The fields were swelled in the 2nd round as the event was held injunction with a cross challenge competition with competitors from all over England competing.

There were some particularly strong performances from Bicester athletes with Ben West, making a belated cross country debut for the club.  West had an outstanding run in the under 15 boy’s race.  He was the first Oxfordshire runner to finish, placing 22nd with a 16mins 26secs clocking, in the 115 strong field.  West also won the under 15 division 2 race beating 23 other athletes in the process.  Bicester’s other finisher in this age group was Tom Couzens, who in his first cross country race of the season placed 89th (19mins 12secs).

Millie Couzens also placed in the top 30 in the under 13 girl’s race finishing an excellent 23rd (11mins 8secs) in the 114 strong field in what was her first cross country effort of the season.  Couzens was also 4th out of the 35 finishers in the division 2 race.  Amelia Cox also finished in the top half as she placed 57th (11mins 59secs).

Max Nicole, in only his second race in Bicester colours, built on his fine run last week in the Oxon Mail League with a top 30 placing in the under 13 boy’s race.  He finished 28th out of the 113 finishers clocking 10mins 22secs and he was also 4th out of the 30 finishers competing in division 2.  Bicester’s other finisher in this age group was the improving Samuel Worfolk who was 75th in 11mins 33secs.

Another Bicester AC runner having her first run of the cross country season was Georgia Usher, who ran a strong race in under 11 girl’s race placing 36th with 8mins 1 secs in the 81 strong field.  Imogen Cox finished 51st in the same race (8mins 58secs).  Amy Gould and Molly Acton contested the under 15 girl’s race finishing 43rd  (15mins 56secs) and 65th  (17mins 10secs) respectively with Gould 9th of the 26 finishers in the division 2 race. And Harry Wynne Jones did well to place 48th in the under 11 boy’s race clocking 7mins 53secs.
