On Sunday 13th January thirteen members of Bicester Athletic Club travelled to the Triangle Leisure Centre in Burgess Hill to represent Oxfordshire at the Under 11 Fun in Athletics Sportshall Regional Final.

Under 11 Girls Amy Gould and Millie Couzens each achieved the maximum score in the balance test to convincingly win the event. Gould also played a crucial role in the 3rd place finish of the Obstacle Relay team. Holly Griffiths-Brown was in excellent form and gained an excellent 1st place finish in the 6 lap paarlauf race with Witney athlete Olivia Westbrook. Griffiths-Brown also gained a superb 4th place overall in the standing triple jump. Not to be outdone by her team mates on the track, Lauren Garside teamed up with Banbury Harrier Amelia Leondiou to take a share of 2nd place in the 1+1 lap sprint race. In the field Lucy Stowell scored well in the target throw to lead the team to 4th place and Isabelle Kinsella-Miles was the leading Oxfordshire athlete in the Standing Long Jump. The Under 11 Girls finished in a fantastic 4th place overall.

In the boys events Tom Couzens jumped an incredible 6.35m in the standing triple jump to take 2nd place. Couzens and Bicester team mate William Sims won their heat of the 6 lap paarlauf race to take 4th overall, and placed 3rd in the 2+2 lap race. Joe Liddicot teamed up with Jack Judson of Oxford City to take 3rd place in the 1+1 lap sprint race. Josiah Edwards-Giraud played a valuable role to enable the team to achieve a superb 2nd place finish in the soft javelin. JJ Welham also scored well to help the team achieve 4th place in the balance test. Hayden Durrant showed his excellent form in finishing as the highest Oxfordshire finisher in the Hi-Stepper event with a swift 13.7 seconds, closely followed by Liddicot with 14.1 seconds. Durrant and Archie Scott also played a crucial role in the Obstacle Relay to score valuable points for the team. Against some very tough competition, the Oxfordshire boys finished in 7th place overall.
