National Young Athletes League, St Albans
U13 boys of Bicester Athletic Club were in fantastic form on Sunday in the second round of the National Young Athletes League held at St Albans.
Henry Owen, running a grade 3 performance and pb of 13.8 and James Wright wiped the board in the 100m sprint taking first position in both A and B Strings. Henry then went on to win the 200m A string with a time of 27.9, his second pb of the day and another grade 3, with his fellow athlete Lloyd Bryan taking first place in the B string. Jackson Curtis and Henry Owen then went on to win both strings of the longjump with Jackson jumping a grade 3 performance of 4m.39 and Henry Owen jumping 4m.44 to gain a grade 2 performance. Not to be outdone Frank Harrison competed in his first 800m on the track and came home in 4th position with Jacob Simmons running into 2nd place in the b string on the 800m.
The U13 boys finished off an excellent day with a great run in the 4 x 100m relay to win in a time of 57.7, which is an new club record.
In the U15 boys team, Alec Warriner ran a pb in the 100m with a time of 13.6 with Josh Cussell making his first appearance for the club recording a time of 13.9 in the 100m. Jack Fox ran his first 400m in this league and stormed to victory with a time of 56.6. The Horwood brothers of Dan and Tom were in great throwing action with Tom beating his older brother for the first time in the shot putt with a putt of 6m.13. Dan out threw him in the discus and javelin with throws of 20m.62 and 20m.34 respectively
Adam Clarke had fine runs in the U17 boys 100 and 200 with runs of 12.1 and 24.9. Sam Edwards showed once again that his high jumping is to a great standard by coming second and running into second place in the 100m hurdles.
Not to be outdone there were some fine performances in the girls section of the club.
Harriet Owen ran into 3rd position in the b string of the 800m with a superb pb of 2.59.4. Bryony Wilson and Katie Wright had good runs in the 75m and Rosiin Welby did well in the 150m.
The U 15 due of Caroline Waddel and Leanne Hobbs had great runs in the 100m and 200m. Caroline was second in the a string of the 100m and 200m running gread 3 performances in both. Leanne made here first appearance for the club in this league and won both 100m and 200m in the b string.
Nikki Holloway came out with a storming run in the 800m with a time of 2:42.
Alice McGill had a great day winning both the 75m hurdles in a time of 13.1 and the long jump with a jump of 4m55. She gained a grade 3 performance with her hurdles. Emily Mcdonnel jumped in the b string of the long jump and broke her pb to jump 4m06.
The girls then came together to run the 4x100m relay, with Emily, Alice, Leanne and Caroline running together for the first time and after a supreme effort found themselves in 2nd place.
