OXON COUNTY CAMPIONSHIPS 2005

Bicester Athletic Club took part in the Oxfordshire County Championships and Minthon competition held at the Tilsley Park track Abingdon over the weekend with a further nightime meeting at the Horspath track in Oxford.

It was a tremendously successful championship for the 23 club members who took part with the athletes competing in 63 separate track and field events resulting in 12 Gold medals, 14 Silver and 8 Bronze and setting 10 club/age group records on the way. This was by far the Clubs best results in recent years and bodes well for the future. All the club athletes who took part deserve the highest praise for their determination and commitment.

Special mention must go to the clubs throws coach Vet Dave Keuster. His personal haul was 3 Golds and a Silver setting 3 Championship records in the V60 class with the 3 Horewood brothers from his coaching group taking a further 5 championship medals. At the other end of the age scale in the Minithon competition for Under 11’s brothers Redford & Freddie Curtis finished with Golds with Kristian Ancil and Iona James taking silvers.

Henry Owen. 100m bronze 13.5, 200m silver 26.2 BAC age group record, High jump silver 1.45m, Long jump bronze 5.11m.

Tom Horwood. Hammer throw gold 19.02m.

U17 men

Dan Horwood. Shot putt silver 8.67m, Discus throw bronze 23.46m, Hammer throw gold 19.87m

Ieuan Robinson. 5000m silver 19.28 BAC age group & club record.

U15 girls

Hannah Mitchell. 3000m gold 12.26.6 BAC age group & club record.

Emily McDonnell. 800m bronze 2.33.2

U17 women

Georgina Newell. 800m gold 2.27.6 BAC age group & club record.

1500m bronze 5.12.5 BAC age group & club record.
