Four Bicester AC athletes represented Oxfordshire in last weekend’s inter county cross country championships held at Loughborough.  They were up against the best cross country runners in the country in their respective age groups.

Ben West produced one of the finest ever long distant runs by a Bicester male as he led home the Oxfordshire team in the under 17 men’s event.  Even though he is still in his first year in this age group, West produced an extraordinary performance to place 25th out of the 263 finishers clocking 20mins 57 secs, less than a minute behind the winner.  This run crowned off what has been a marvellous season where he claimed three cross country titles.

Milly Couzens improved on her effort of last season in the under 13 girl’s event where she placed 52nd out of 304 finishers clocking 13mins 50 secs.  Couzens was 2nd home for the Oxfordshire team who were a creditable 14th out of the 40 finishing teams.

Like West, Max Nicolle is in his first year of his age group and he was 4th scorer for the Oxfordshire team in the under 15 boy’s event as they placed 28th out of the 41 teams.  Nicolle finished 174th out of the 294 finishers clocking 17mins 54secs.  And there was a welcome selection for Tom Gould in the under 20 men’s event as he finished 160th (35mins 54secs).
