Bicester AC and Witney finished 6th out of the 7 competing teams in the latest round of their upper age group UK Development League match held last Sunday at Loughborough. There was however a spirited effort from Bicester’s under 17 girls as they covered a range of events. All of these girls have competed for Bicester through the age groups.
Amy Gould posted their sole win with a new club record in the under 17 girl’s 1500 metre steeplechase (6mins 20.26secs). It was a good day for Gould as she threw a new personal best in the hammer (19.22m) with club mate Holly Hunter, also over 19 metres in the B event (19.02m). Fortunes were reversed in the javelin where Hunter came out on top with 3rd in the A event (21.31m) with Gould 2nd in the B string (10.40m).
Lauren Garside competed in three individual events where she was 4th in the A 100 metres (14.6secs), 6th in the shot (7.60m) and 5th in the Long Jump (3.73m). Holly Hunter provided support in the Long Jump with 2nd in the B event (3.49m) and Molly Acton in the B Shot (runner up with 6.02m). Acton performed creditably in her main events where she was 3rd in the 800 metres (2mins 32.9secs) and 4th in the 300 metres (46.1secs). All 4 girls then combined to form a 4 by 100 metre relay team and they did very well to break the minute with 5th in 59.7secs.
Bicester’s only other competitor was Keiran Finch who exceeded the 5 metre mark with 5th place in the under 20 men’s Long Jump (5.13m).
