Bicester AC’s under 15 and under 13 athletes made their seasonal bow in last weekends UK Development League Midlands North East Division 1C match held at Banbury. Although the team was depleted by holidays and injuries there were still plenty of first places and personal bests.
Fresh from his double wins in the sprints last weekend, Sam White continued in winning vein by taking the under 15 boy’s 100 metres in 13.10secs. White also won the B string javelin with 14.15m and also ran a new personal best in the 300 metres finishing runner up with 41.20secs. Although not a winner, Joseph Rayner also competed well in the under 15 events finishing with two 3rd places in the 200 metres (27.20secs) and High Jump (1.40m), both personal bests, with Edward Joliffe also jumping a new personal best 1.40m in winning the B string. There was also a win for Bicester in the under 15 B shot with Samuel Worfolk (5.74m) with Ethan Connor managing a personal best (5.88m) placing 5th.
There were several fine Bicester performance in the boys under 13 events but only Samuel Rayson managed an individual win in the 75m hurdles (13.70secs), only just outside his personal best despite hitting a hurdle. He also ran a new personal best in the 200 metres (30.6secs). It was a good day for Michael Cadle who achieved a double first in the B 200 metres(30.9secs) and High Jump(1.25m), both new personal bests. Ben Groves was 2nd in the A high jump, where he produced a national grade 4 effort of 1.33m and he also ran a new personal best time of 15.50secs in the 100 metres finishing 3rd.
Amber Parker was in great form in the under 15 girls discuss with a new lifetime best throw of 19.66m to record Bicester’s only win in the under 15 girl events. Parker followed this up with good efforts in the shot (7.39m) and the hammer (17.32m) where she was 3rd. Bicester’s only other win in the girl events came in the under 13 75 metres where Isla Bohannon ran a new personal best time of 11.50secs. Bohannon was also 2nd in the B high jump (1.05m) with teammate Georgia Usher taking 2nd in the A event (1.18m). Usher was also 3rd in the 1200 metres in a new personal best of 4mins 34.1secs) with teammate Amy Willis running well for 2nd in the B race (4mins 38.9secs).
Although only in the B race, there was plenty of promise shown by Imogen Cox in the under 13 800 metres where she finished 2nd in 2mins 57.5secs. Cox was also a good 2nd in the B javelin (9.84m) with Ruby Silvester setting a new personal best in the A event (12.34m) where she was 3rd.
