Bicester Athletic Club’s Sportshall teams took part in an excellent and exciting second match of the Oxfordshire Sportshall League season at the Kidlington Sports Centre. With 34 Bicester athletes competing it was another very busy afternoon for the Team Managers, and Officials.
The under 11 boys team were in awesome form. They won every event to take a maximum score, and extend their lead in the overall league competition. William Sims, Joe Liddicot, JJ Welham, and Cameron Stock got their match off to flying start with a superb 1st place in the obstacle relay. Liddicot, Tom Couzens, Ellis Griffiths-Brown, and Archie Scott bounced to 1st place in the speed bounce. In the soft javelin Josiah Edwards-Giraud threw 21.65m to set a new league record. With Cameron Scarlett the 4 x 1 lap relay teams rounded off their match with excellent runs and baton changes to take 1st place.
The under 11 girls also had an excellent match. Just dropping two points in their match. In their 1st event of the match Paige Scarlett, Lauren Garside, Millie Couzens, and Holly Griffiths-Brown eased to 1st place in the obstacle relay. In the speed bounce Scarlett, Molly Acton, Amy Gould, and Holly Hunter bounced to 1st place. Griffiths-Brown, and Isabelle Kinsella-Miles jumped to 1st place in the standing long jump. With team member Emilia Sims the girls finished in 1st place, increasing their lead in the overall league competition.
Elen Holt, Cerys Cherry, Erin Higginbottom, and Orlaith Lyford got the under 13 girls team off to a fantastic start with 2nd place in obstacle relay. Alice Daniels, and Olivia Stock ran superbly to take 2nd place in the 2 laps races. Cherry and Lyford ran excellent 6 laps races to take 2nd place. The girls finished the match in 2nd place overall. The boys team were always going to find it tough with only 3 athletes available against teams with 6 members. They performed very well with Harvey Attrill, and Fergus Jones taking 2nd place in the 2 laps races. Attrill and Caelan Coney took 2nd place in the gruelling 6 laps races. Attrill, and Jones rounded off their match with 2nd place in a very close and exciting 6 lap paarlauf. The boys finished 4th overall.
The under 15’s competitions were very close. The boys team of Tom Gould, Alex Jack, Zak and Connor Wilce competed very well to finish the match in 3rd place, but are 1st in the overall league competiton . Jess Cherry took 1st places in the shot putt, and the standing triple jump with Lauren Page jumping to 2nd place in the standing triple jump. Frances Goss jumped to 1st place in the standing long jump. The girls took 1st place, and are 2nd in the overall league competition.
