Bicester AC’s young athletes enjoyed a spate of personal bests in their final match in the lower age group Youth Development League Division 1C match at Nuneaton last Sunday. Although only one of three Bicester athletes competing in the under 15 boy’s events, it was quite a day for Sam White. He set two new personal best in achieving a sprint win double. His time of 12.30 in the 100 metres was a grade 4 clocking with Callum Hewett 2nd in the B string with a new personal best of 13.10s. White also recorded a new personal best in the 200 metres of 25.4s and this time Bicester achieved a double first as Joseph Rayner won the B event (26.3s). White then just failed in the 300 metres finishing 2nd with 41.00secs. Bicester’s other win in the under 15 boy’s event came with Rayner triumphing in the long jump with a leap of 4.98m.

The under 13 boys enjoyed a healthy competition. Samuel Rayner enjoyed another fine day’s competition as he cemented his 26th place in the national rankings with another win in the 75m hurdles clocking a new personal best time of 13.20. Rayson also achieved a new personal best in the 1500 metres where he was 3rd in 5mins 57.4secs.

Ben Groves had an excellent competition. He produced a fantastic effort to win the under 13 boy’s long jump with a new personal best and grade 4 effort of 4.26m. He also won the high jump (1.35m) with Michael Cadle setting a new personal best in winning the B string (1.30m). And he set a further personal best in the 200 metres where he placed 2nd in the B event (30.9s) with Joshua Parker 3rd in the A string (30.2s).

The girls found wins harder to come by but there was further advancement from Amber Parker as she broke her own under 15 girl’s club record with a winning national grade 4 throw of 26.01m. Parker was also 2nd in the discus (20.08m) and 3rd in the shot (7.02m). Bicester’s only other win came from Millie Couzens who was a comfortable winner of the under 15 girl’s 1500 metres (5mins 28s). Couzens also achieved 3rd places in the 200 metres in 30.7s (where clubmate Erin Fabri set a new personal best of 30.3secs to take 3rd in the B string) and long jump (4.12m).

The only Bicester win in either string of the girl’s under 13 events was from Innes Paiget-Thompson, who won the B shot with a personal best 4.77m. Paiget -Thompson also set two further personal bests in the 800 metres where she was 3rd (2mins 53.1s) and 70m hurdles (14.50secs). There was also a personal best for Amy Willis in the under 13 girl’s long jump where shw was 3rd with 3.93m.

Michael Cadle was in personal best form in the under 13 boy’s where he was 3rd in the B string 100 metres (14.8secs). Further personal best marks were achieved with Aiden Fitton enjoying a good competition with 16.77m in the under 13 boy’s javelin and 3.42m in the B shot putt.
