Welcome To Bicester AC

 

Founded in 1982 we are predominantly a junior Track & Field and Cross Country club but can cater for all ages from 8 years old, incorporating all abilities and both sexes.  You can be competitive or just join to keep fit or for relaxation. If you have always wanted to have a go but have never quite taken the plunge, then why not come and join us? Non-athletes who would like to get involved in administration, coaching or officiating are also very welcome.

Radley Kear Open – Radley (13th Apr)

Oxfordshire’s first outdoor track and field athletics meeting of the year, the Radley AC Kear Memorial Open, took place last Saturday at Tilsley Park and was well attended by Bicester AC athletes.  With no track and field meetings taking place during the Winter, runners were inevitably a bit rusty, having had to keep fit by other means which for most athletes would have been through cross country running, circuit training and sportshall athletics or in some cases a combination all three....

Watford T & F Open (3rd April)

Two Bicester AC athletes made the journey last Wednesday to the very competitive open track and field meeting held at Watford.  The meeting comprised a number of heats of the 1500 metres which included athletes of all standards who were slotted in to races based on previous form. Erlgean Appiahkorang-Mensah contested race 6 which had 15 contestants.  Whilst no match for the winner, who was an age group above, Appiahkorang-Mensah produced a lifetime best for the 1,500m in finishing...

Cross Country End of Season Presentations (24th Mar)

The final Bicester AC outdoor Winter session took place recently at Bicester School.  This was combined with the outdoor Winter presentation.  Emma Gould, Bicester AC’s Cross Country Coordinator, was able to reflect on what had been an eventful season.  Two major championships were cancelled, one of which included the Southern Inter Counties Cross Country Championships at Horspath, where runners lined up in one race before the meet was cancelled.  At the same venue one...

Southern Road Race Championships – Milton Keynes (24th Mar)

Bicester AC had three competitors in the recently staged Southern Championships under 17 men’s 5km road race held at Milton Keynes.  First Bicester runner home was Owen Stocker with his first ever sub 17mins clocking.  Stocker finished 21st clocking 16mins 57secs.  He was not far ahead of teammate Joshua Moran who produced one of his best ever runs in 23rd with a time of 17mins 07secs.  This was significantly faster than any of his parkrun 5km races.  Isaac Moran closed the Bicester scorers...

Oxon Sportshall League – Witney (17th Mar)

The final Oxfordshire Sportshall League match took place recently at Witney with Bicester AC enjoying another successful competition winning 4 of the team competitions.  There were wins for both the under 11 boy and girl teams, a win for the under 15 girl’s team and an equal first for the under 13 girl’s team.  This resulted in Bicester AC winning the combined under 11 competition as well as winning the under 11 girl’s and under 11 boy’s competitions.  Bicester AC also took the...

ESSA XC Championships – Pontefract (16th Mar)

Five Bicester athletes were selected to pick to run for the Oxfordshire County School team to run in the English Schools Athletic Cross Country Championships held last Saturday in Pontefract. With six of the team needing to score, Oxfordshire had only five team scorers in the senior girl’s event run over an approximate 4.5km course and therefore did not feature in the final team classifications.  Anna Jolliffe was first home of the Oxfordshire runners placing in the top 100 in a very good...

Inter County Cross Country Championships – Nottingham (9th Mar)

Seven Bicester AC athletes were selected to compete for Oxfordshire at the recent CAU Inter County Cross Country Championships held at Wollaton Park, Nottingham, bringing together the cream of Britain’s top cross country runners.  Teams could field up to 8 athletes but only the first 4 runners home counted as scorers. Bicester AC had two athletes selected for the under 13 boy’s race run over 3km  which attracted a field of 297 finishers and 40 teams.  It’s been quite the season...

Oxon XC League – Henley (3rd March)

The final round of the Oxfordshire Cross Country League took place recently at Henley Showground.  Conditions were quite soft underfoot and along with its hills  represents one of the toughest tests in the League.  There were three Bicester AC runners in contention for individual league series wins with two of these turning out on the day.
