Two Bicester AC athletes made the journey last Wednesday to the very competitive open track and field meeting held at Watford.  The meeting comprised a number of heats of the 1500 metres which included athletes of all standards who were slotted in to races based on previous form.

Erlgean Appiahkorang-Mensah contested race 6 which had 15 contestants.  Whilst no match for the winner, who was an age group above, Appiahkorang-Mensah produced a lifetime best for the 1,500m in finishing 4th .  His time of 4mins 39.33secs was almost 8secs faster than his previous best and was a national level 6 PB time.  This was only his 5th attempt at the distance, further than he normally races on the track.

Leo Blyton has competed very successfully this Winter in the under 13 age category in cross country races.  He has now moved up to the under 15 boy’s age group.  This was Blyton’s first ever track race in a Bicester vest and he produced a very promising effort to finish 6th in his heat clocking 4mins 45.71secs.  This was a closely fought contest with just three seconds separating the first 6 home.  Blyton’s effort was a national level 5 PB time.
