There was a good turnout of Bicester AC runners at last Sunday’s Berkshire Buckinghamshire and Oxfordshire Cross Country Championships held in Reading at Prospect Park.
Bicester’s Anna Jolliffe finished a very competitive 13th in the under 15 girl’s race run over an approximate 4km distance. Her time of 13mins 12secs was less than 90 seconds off the winning run. Lucy McGrath, slightly below the form of her two previous cross country outings this year placed 24th in 14mins 04secs.
Four Bicester athletes lined up for the under 17 men’s race held over an approximate 6km distance. There was a good contest for top Bicester finisher with Hugo Jinks just managing to resist the challenge of in form Edward Jolliffe. Jinks’s time of 18mins 52secs was good enough for 13th, 7 seconds and one position in advance of Jolliffe. The team was completed by Samuel Worfolk, who re-captured some of his 2018 form in finishing 18th (18mins 59secs). Bicester’s other competitor Jamie Conway was 24th (20mins 25secs) with the team placing 5th.
In the under 15 boy’s race, run over an approximate 4k course, Bicester’s sole competitor Oliver Conway managed to finish in the top half of finishers placing 17th in 11mins 50secs, just a minute down on the winning time. Bicester’s other placings were Robert Charlton who was 25th in the under 13 boy’s race clocking 12mins 42secs for the approximate 3.1km course and Zofia Conway who was 28th in the under 13 girl’s race (14mins 20secs) run over the same distance.
