Bicester AC took a small team to the final round of their Youth Development League (Lower Age) Midland Division 2A North East match held on Saturday 18th July in Tamworth.  Whilst the athletes excelled themselves with ten new personal bests Bicester AC could only manage 7th with no individual wins.

One of Bicester’s best performers was under 13 athlete Millie Couzens.  She equalled the under 13 girl’s 70 metre hurdles club record (set in 1993) finishing 2nd in a national grade 4 time of 12.8secs.  Couzens also ran a grade 4 time in the 800 metres finishing 3rd with a new personal best clocking of 2mins 39.9secs and finished 5th in the long jump with a leap of 3.79m.

There was another very good Bicester effort in the under 15 girl’s 800 metres as Molly Acton lowered her previous best again with 2nd place and 2mins 28.1secs.  Acton only just missed out on another pb in the 300 metres where she was 4th in 46.1secs.  However Acton did get another pb this time in the long jump with 3.79m for 5th place.

Amelia Cox enjoyed a good afternoon’s competition in the under 13 girl events setting two new personal best marks firstly in the 1200 metres where she was 2nd in 4mins 25.4secs and then in the javelin where she was 4th with a national grade 4 effort of 15.49m.  Cox was also 7th in the 75 metres with 12.3secs.

Tom Couzens was Bicester’s best boy performer on the day as he set a new personal best in the 80 metres hurdles where he was 4th (14.2secs).  Couzens managed 2nd in the long jump (4.33m) and was not far off his best in the high jump in 4th  (1.45m).

Samuel Worfolk produced one of his best runs in Bicester colours setting a new pb in under 13 boy’s 800 metres where he was 6th (2mins 54.7secs).  Worfolk was also 7th in the 200 metres (36.7secs) and 6th in the shot putt (4.63m).

Another athlete in pb form was Orlaith Lyford who set a new best mark in the under 15 girl’s 200 metres (4th in 30.1secs).  Lyford was also 3rd in the 75m hurdles (13.7secs) and 6th in the shot putt (5.62m).

Under 15 Maisie Silvester continues to knock seconds off her 100 metres pb clocking 14.6secs for 5th.  Silvester was also 5th in the 200 metres (32.4secs) and 7th in the discus (9.61m).

JJ Welham was 3rd in the under 15 B long jump with 3.86m and also ran 29.6secs for 6th in the 200 metres as well as placing 5th in the shot putt with 5.63m
