Athletes from all over the South East contested the Sandra Luke 5 star competition held at Horspath on Sunday 1st June. Athletes are invited to compete in three events and points based on a national scoring system are given dependant on performance. These equate to stars with 5 the highest rating.
Bicester AC had a good number of athletes competing with all achieving some great results.
In the Under 10 girl’s there was a promising run from Georgia Usher in the 800 metres as she clocked 3mins 12.07secs which helped her to 4 stars. Ruby Silvester also competed well in her events.
Amelia Cox was a 5 star performer in the Under 11 girl’s event as she recorded strong performances in the long jump (3.34m) as well as the 800 metres (3mins 11.47secs).
The Under 13 girl’s saw many good performances with Holly Griffiths-Brown earning a 5 star ranking for her three events breaking two personal bests. She was 2nd fastest of the competitors in the 200 metres recording a new personal best mark of 29.25secs and followed that with a new best long jump of 4.11 metres in long jump and she led a strong Bicester contingent in the 800 metres (2mins 41.21secs). Amy Gould also earned 5 stars as she recorded another personal best in the high jump of 1.24m and a good 800 metres (2mins 43.61secs). There were also good performances from Holly Hunter, Alice Walder, Lauren Garside and Mollie Bird who all earned 4 stars and Maisie Silvester set a new personal best mark in the 800 metres (2mins 46.21secs).
Orlaith Lyford was the only Bicester athlete in the Under 14 girls competing well in the 200 metres (30.92secs) and long jump (3.79m).
There were only 4 Bicester AC boys who competed again showing good form with Tommy Edwards in the Under 10, Ellis Griffiths-Brown in the Under 11, Dan Evans in the Under 13 and Harvey Atrill in the Under 14 where he earned 5 stars as he finished the day with the 4th highest points score in his category with a new personal best in the long jump of 4.51m which was the longest jump of the day in his category.
