Bicester AC have started on a new venture this cross country season entering the Chiltern Cross Country League for the first time. This is a strong league with clubs such as Marshall Milton Keynes and Wycombe Phoenix taking part.
A contingent of ten Bicester athletes took in the first event on Saturday 10th October at Keysoe with several of the runners towards the junior end of their age group. One of the performances of the day came from Amelia Cox who was running her first cross country race in the under 13 age group. There was a strong field of around 90 with a strong performance by the winner. Cox has clearly built on her good summer season and equipped herself very well placing an excellent 25th with a 13mins 2secs clocking.
Amy Gould led a contingent of 3 Bicester runners in the under 15 girl’s age group and she was also having her first ever cross county run in this age group. Gould ran very well for 32nd in a 94 strong field clocking 16 mins 10 secs. Not far behind was Molly Acton who has just enjoyed her best ever summer season. Acton showed that she had taken that form into cross country with 44th place and a 16mins 40secs clocking. And the team was completed by a new name in Bicester colours, Megan Greenwood, who performed rather well for 69th and 17mins 44secs.
There were three runners in the under 13 boy’s race and Freddie Taylor led the team home in 53rd place (12mins 56secs). Jamie Rendell was next finisher in 65th (13mins 30secs) with Samuel Worfolk completing the places in 79th (15nins 7secs)
In the youngest events Imogen Cox ran impressively in the under 11 race for 38th (8mins 50secs). Harry Rendell was 59th in the under 11 boy’s race with a 9mins 2secs clocking. And in the under 17 men’s race Tom Gould ran creditably for 37th clocking 23mins 39secs.
