The cream of Bicester’s cross country talent braved the muddy and cold conditions prevailing at Keysoe Equastrian Centre for last Saturday’s latest round of the Chiltern Cross Country League.
Fresh from his emphatic success in last weekend’s Oxford Mail Cross Country/County Championship event, Ben West added a splendid victory amongst the 50 finishers in the under 17 men’s race. West finished 17 seconds ahead of his nearest pursuer clocking 20 mins 24 secs.
Max Nicolle was one of two Bicester AC runners in the under 15 boy’s race run over a distance of 4,400 metres. And Nicolle was rewarded with an excellent 3rd out of the 65 finishers and was the leading division 2 finisher in a time of 13mins 21secs. He was accompanied by Samuel Worfolk, who ran a solid race for 34th and a 15mins 11secs clocking
Imogen Cox has found teammate Lucy McGrath a tough nut to crack at times this season but she got the better of her compatriot on Saturday in the under 13 girls’s race. Cox was 38th with 13mins 57secs just 6 seconds faster than McGrath who finished 41st.
Bicester’s sole competitor in the under 11 boy’s race was Kyle Rayson who finished 42nd out of the 74 finishers with 8mins 54 secs. And Simon Worfolk contested the senior men’s race over an 8,900 metre course, finishing 236th (46mins 20secs) in the nearly 400 strong field.
