Bicester AC took part in their final Chiltern League Cross Country Fixture of the season held last Saturday at Campbell Park in Milton Keynes. It was another successful day for Bicester’s Elsie Jacobs in the under 11 girl’s race as she finished
3rd, just two seconds off first place clocking 5mins 48secs for the 1.5km circuit. This left her in 3rd place in the final individual under 11 girl standings, a superb effort including a first place and a win over the eventual series winner. Abigail Jones was Bicester’s next placer in 26th place (6mins 25secs) with ever present Amber Busby, who has competed in every Chiltern League race this season 36th (6mins 49secs). These three did well to finish 4th in the team race on the day with Bicester’s final placer, Maya Evans, completing the under 11 Bicester contingent in 66th (7mins 28secs).
Bicester AC’s under 13 boy’s team have enjoyed a fine season and they got the job done in the final race with the team of Owen Stocker, Joshua Smith and Robert Charlton taking second place in the under 13 boy’s team division 2 final standings. Stocker did well to finish 25th in the combined division 1 and 2 race clocking 10mins 27secs over the 2.8km circuit, particularly as he had hurt his foot in the previous week’s Oxfordshire League event. This cost him any chance of a podium finish in the final division 2 standings but he still did well to be Oxfordshire’s highest placer in 4th. Joshua Smith also sneaked into the top ten in the final standings (10th) finishing 40th on the day and crossing the line one place behind teammate Robert Charlton with both clocking 10mins 49secs.
Jenny Critchley was Bicester’s sole competitor in the under 15 girl’s race and ended her Chiltern League campaign with 21st place. (6th in the division 2 race) clocking 18mins 42secs for the 4.3km distance. Ben Groves was 56th in the under 15 boy’s race (19mins 34secs for 4.3km circuit) with George Mansell 42nd (6mins 22secs) in the under 11 boy’s event run over 1.5km.
Bicester had two men in the senior men’s event run over 8.4km. Vet 40 male Arran Critchley, who is in his first season of cross country, continues to retain a good level of consistency as he placed 337th (44mins 49secs). And vet 50 male John Charlton, in his first ever cross country event, did well to complete in 367th (54mins 01secs).
