The final round of the Chiltern Cross Country League took place last Saturday at Campbell Park Milton Keynes. This was an opportunity for the outstanding performers of the season to collect their awards. Bicester AC’s under 17 Ben West retained his overall individual division 2 title with another splendid series of performances. He has spent the season vying for top places with division one performers and enjoyed an epic battle with old nemesis Jack Meijer from Milton Keynes. He was eventually beaten by 4 seconds by Meijer clocking 18 mins 55secs with the rest of the field at least a minute adrift.
Bicester’s other series podium finisher was Max Nicolle who was 2nd in the under 15 boy’s standings. Nicolle was not present for the last race but his runner up spot was just reward for a season full of good performances. With Nicolle absent it was left to Edward Jolliffe to lead the team home gaining revenge on old rival and teammate Samuel Worfolk, Joliffe finished 20th in 16 mins 28secs some five places and 32 secs in front of Jolliffe. Michael Albourzpur completed the team scorers in 44th (18mins 35secs)
Imogen Cox has enjoyed a busy season in the under 13 girl’s competition and she ran a solid and respectable final round to place 40th in 12mins 30secs with Anna Joliffe 59th in 13mins 47secs.
