Three Bicester AC athletes made the journey to Cranford for last Sunday’s Cransley Hospice 10km road race. For two of the athletes, this was their second race of the weekend. Fresh from his success at the recently held Thame 10km road race, Finley Colverson-Martin made a bold bid for another win in the 228 strong field. In the event he just fell short finishing in runner up spot with a 34mins 40secs clocking, just 33 seconds off the winning time. Colverson – Martin was one of the three youngest athletes in the race and his effort was even meritorious given that his was 2nd run of the weekend.
Bicester AC’s Jenny Critchley was another of the youngest athletes that towed the starting line. She faced some experienced competitors at the front end of the lady’s race so did well to finish in 3rd in the lady’s race. Finishing 23rd in the overall race, she ran a personal best time of 42mins 35secs, a superb effort given that this was her second race of the weekend.
The Bicester contingent was completed by Aaron Critchley who did well to finish in the top half of finishers placing 101st in 56mins 32secs in what was his first 10km race since early 2020. Colverson – Martin and Jenny Critchleys’ busy weekend commenced with a 3km track race in Cheltenham on Saturday. Colverson-Martin finished 2nd in what was a new personal best time of 9mins 39.5secs, which was also a national grade 4 standard time. Critchley was up against a previous English National Cross Country Champion in the lady’s race so did well to finish just 40 seconds behind her finishing as 3rd lady in a season’s best time of 10mins 59.6secs, also a national grade time.
