Bicester held their final cross country training session of the Winter on Sunday. This was combined with fun training events and an end of season awards presentation. Medals for individual and team winners from the two cross country leagues that Bicester AC competed in were presented as well as county championships trophies/medals.
The best junior male shield was awarded to Finley Colverson-Martin. He has made electric progress this season finishing 2nd in the Chiltern League division 2 final standings and producing some good end of season performances in the national inter county cross country championships and at yesterday’s national school’s championships. The equivalent award went to Jenny Critchley, who has enjoyed her best ever cross country season which included a 4th place in the Chiltern League final division 2 standings and a strong run in the national cross country championships at Parliament Hill Fields.
Nancy Alcraft, in her first season of competitive cross country, was awarded the best performance for an under 11 year old for her fine 2nd place in the Oxfordshire League under 9 final standings.
Awards are made for the male and female club members of the year which take a more holistic view of an athlete’s contribution throughout the season. Evie O Callaghan was rewarded for her plucky efforts in the Oxfordshire Cross Country League to win the female club member of the year. George Hart’s efforts both in training and races earned him the boy club member of the season award.
Best contribution award went to Sean Wetton for commitment and efforts throughout the Winter season in the Sunday cross country training sessions. And Amber Busby’s consistent efforts and improvements earned her the most improved athlete award.
