About the event: Rasenkraft (Lawn Power) originated in Germany in 1912 and consists of 3 disciplines, Hammer throw, Weight throw and Putting the Stone (steinstossen). There are different body weight and age classes for the competitors and different weight grades for the throwing implements. Since 2001 the European Championships have been held every 2 years, the last one in 2013 was in Hagenau in France. It alternates between countries, Germany, Austria, Hungary, France and Switzerland. This is the first time the Rasenkraft competition has ever been held in the UK and it is hoped that more UK athletes will take part, compete and enter the European Championships next year (2015).
