Three Bicester AC athletes were selected to compete for Oxfordshire in the Derek Crookes Under 13 girls and boys inter county track and field meeting held in Kingston on Sunday. Competition was fierce but all three athletes equipped themselves.
Erlgean Appiahkorang-Mensah is having a superb first season of track and field and he was picked for three events. He produced a superb effort to finish 3rd out of the 8 finishers in the B string 800 metres clocking 2mins 29.92secs. He was also selected to compete in the shot put and did well to put 7.26m for 5th place in the B event just 8cm short of his best. And he ran a leg of the 4 by 100 metre relay with the Oxfordshire quartet performing well to finish 4th in a swift 52.89secs.
Tabitha Bosley was selected to run the 1500 metres and produced a good effort to finish 4th out of the 8 finishers in the B string 1500 metres clocking 5mins 38.41secs. Bosley also ran a leg of the 4 by 100 metre relay where the Oxfordshire team finished 7th (61secs). Bicester’s other competitor, Amber Busby. finished 7th in the B 800 metres and her time of 2mins 42.86 secs was her 2nd best of the season and only just short of her personal best.
