Following a long hiatus in competition due to COVID two Bicester athletes, both under 15 girls, made their return to competition last week and were rewarded with massive new personal bests.

First to run was Anna Jolliffe who took in last Thursday’s Harrow 3,000 metre race night.  Due to the large number of entries the races were split into several heats.  Anna Jolliffe contested a field of 11 and was forced to make her own running effectively running a solo time trial.  Her reward was an emphatic win with her closest competitor some 25 secs in arrears.  And her winning time of 10mins 36.55secs smashed her previous club record for the under 15 girls 3,000 metre by over 41secs.  Her winning time was less than a second away from a national grade 2 mark.

Jenny Critchley has been training well during the Summer and she made her seasonal bow at Leamington’s Saturday Open meeting.  She produced a superb effort to beat her previous best by nearly 22secs as she finished runner up in her heat of the 1500 metres clocking 5mins 13secs which was a national grade 4 mark.
