Bicester sent a team up for last Saturdays latest round of the Heart of England Division 2 League. There was a sterling effort by the under 11 girls who won their age group and good effort by the under 13 boys who were 3rd. However Bicester were hampered by low turnouts in some of the age groups and eventually finished an overall 8th out of the 8 competing teams.

The under 11 girls were excellent with no less than 4 wins out of the 4 A and B strings contested. There was a double first in the howler with Hollie Offord throwing a personal best of 18.77m to win the A event and Holly Keeble, 17.41m, for a win in the B event. Jessica Garside completed a brace of B wins in the long jump (2.91m) and 75 metres (12.80secs). And there was further personal bests for Hollie Offord in the 600 metres (2mins 8.3secs) and long jump (3.50m).

Joseph Rayner was the Bicester star in the older age group events where he recorded a magnificent double first in the under 15 jump events. Rayner improved his personal best further with a 5.19m national grade 4 leap in the long jump and produced a similarly graded effort in the high jump with another PB jump of 1.59m. There were only two further Bicester wins on the day in the A string events. One of those came from the in form Sam Rayson who recorded a new personal best and national grade 2 mark of 13.3secs in the under 13 75m hurdles. Rayson also managed a new personal best in the long jump with 2nd place and national grade 4 effort of 4.33m.

Bicester’s other win came from the evergreen Molly Acton who produced another sterling effort to win the under 17 girls 800 metres (2mins 32.1secs). Although not a winner, there was a fantastic new personal best for Amelia Cox who was 2nd in the under 15 girls 1500 metres (5mins 22.9secs). Sam White managed a double 2nd in the under 15 100 and 300 metre events. White’s time of 40.8secs in the 300 metres was a national grade 4 effort and White also ran a fine 12.6scs in the 100 metres.

Georgia Usher set a new personal best in finishing 4th in the under 13 girls high jump and her clearance of 1.25m was a national grade 4 mark. Usher again performer well in the 1500 metres where she was 3rd in 5mins 37.6secs. In the under 13 boys events, Ben Groves produced a grade 3 clearance of 1.35m in finishing 2nd in the high jump and he achieved the same position in the B string long jump with 3.99m.

Ryan Simpson ran a very competitive new personal best time of 13.7secs for 2nd in the B under 13 100 and Jacob Gough made quite an advance in the javelin to take 2nd in the B event with an 18.80m throw. Club mate Michael Cadle threw 20.56m for 3rd in the A javelin and also set a new personal best in the 1500 metres (5mins 21.2secs). And in the under 11 boys events there were personal bests in the howler for Reuben Mitchell (25.37m) and Alex Nicolaides, who won the B string (24.54m). Nicolaides also achieved a fine new personal best in the long jump (3,44.) placing 3rd.
