Bicester AC competed well in the 2nd round of their recent Heart of England division 3 track and field fixture held at Redditch.  Bicester finished 4th out of the 8 competing teams.  There were some notable results in the age group team competition with Bicester winning the under 13 boy’s competition as well as finishing runner up in the under 11 girl’s and under 17/20 women’s competitions.  Sadly the absence of a track referee meant that the track results cannot be ratified for rankings and records.

The under 13 boys maintained the rich vein of form that they have shown in all competitions this season with a splendid win in the under 13 boy’s team competition with 3 A string wins and the same number of B wins.  There was an excellent win in the 4 by 100m relay from the quartet of Oliver Jarvey, Charlie Simpson, Levi Fulcher and Jake Hill as they ran under a minute (59.6secs).  There were also individual A string wins for Charlie Simpson in the 800m, running under 2mins 40secs for the first time with 2mins 38.7secs and Oliver Jarvey in the 200m and only just outside his best with 29.3secs.  Simpson also won the B 200m clocking 30.1secs.  There was a good 2nd place for Levi Fulcher in the long jump with a new best and EA level 5 leap of 4.06m.  Teammate Oliver Jarvey won the B string also with an EA level 5 leap of 4.01m.  There was also a new best for Jarvey as he finished 2nd in the A string javelin with 16.03m.  The Bicester duo of Levi Fulcher and Samuel Wilson were in good form in the high jump.  Fulcher finished 3rd in the A string with a new personal best clearance of 1.25m.  And Samuel Wilson jumped an impressive 1.20m to win the B string in his first ever high jump competition.  Jake Hill competed in his first ever 100m finishing 4th in the A event (15.0secs) with teammate Brendan Kelly placing 6th in the B event (17.3secs).

Bicester’s under 17/20 women’s team finished a competitive 2nd in their team competition which included 3 A string wins and the same number of B string wins.  The quartet of Georgia Bower, Olivia Naidu-Johnson, Grace Jarvey and Yasmine Sheppard ran under 54 secs again in winning the 4 by 100m relay (53.9secs).  Georgia Bower was not far off her season’s best in winning the long jump with an EA PB level 5 leap of 4.92m and was also 2nd in the A 100m (13.3secs).  Yasmine Sheppard was also victorious in the javelin with a winning throw of 17.52m.  Olivia Naidu-Johnson had two B string wins which included a new best in the long jump (4.44m) as well as a win in the 100m (13.8 secs).  Bicester’s other B string win came via Grace Jarvey in the javelin (8.95m).

The under 11 girl’s team put in a spirited performance to finish 2nd in their team competition.  There was a first ever 3 metre plus leap for Lorelei Whelan as she managed Bicester only A string win in the long jump (3.13m).  Whelan also won the B string howler (11.87m).    Ottilie Maclean competed well in her first track and field competition with runner up spot in the howler (14.19m) as well as winning the B string long jump with a new best of 2.90m.  Ivy Balch finished 3rd in the A 600m (2mins 23.3secs) with Whelan 3rd in the B event (2mins 24.4secs) and Ruby Maxwell clocking 2mins 31.6secs in the non – scoring 600m.

Bicester’s under 15 boy’s team did well to finish 3rd in the team competition with two of their number making their track and field debuts.  William Cleaver won the javelin with a new best of 29.20m as well as filling runner up spot in the high jump (1.55m), which was also a personal best and EA PB level 7 height.  There was a win for debutant Alexander Collins in the 1500 metres clocking 4mins 53.5secs in the process.  James Allison was also making his debut and he featured well in both the jumps and sprints.  Allsion finished 2nd in both of the sprints with 12.9secs in the 100m as well as 26.5secs in the 200m and was also 3rd in the long jump (4.35m).  Finlay Harrell notched a double win in the B strings which included a new best of 3.83m in the long jump as well as a win in the javelin (14.91m).

Bicester’s under 15 girls also finished 3rd in their team competition.  This included a win for the quartet of Erin Griffiths, Grace Fulcher, Maya Korn and Megan Surman in the 4 by 100 metre relay (63.1secs).  Erin Griffiths was a good 3rd in the A 200m (31.2secs) with Grace Fulcher running well for 2nd in the B event (31.7secs).  Maya Korn finished 5th in the A 300m (53.9secs) with Megan Surman taking the B event (54.2secs).  The same pairing teamed up in the 800m with Surman placing 5th in the String (2mins 48.0secs) and Korn 3rd in the B event (2mins 54.1secs).  And Erin Griffiths finished 6th in a competitive long jump (3.73m) with Fulcher 3rd in the B event (3.40m).

Bicester’s under 11 boys found wins hard to come by.  Theodore Simms threw over 20 metres in the howler (20.15m) which was good enough for 7th in the A event.  Jaxon Fabri was 3rd in the B event (18.00m).  Bicester’s best A string placing was in the 75m where Theodore Simms was 4th (12.4secs) which was matched by Reece Dunwell’s 4th in the B event in a slightly faster time (12.3secs).  There  was a new best by Franek Markiewicz in the long jump (2.96m) for 5th in the A event with Reece Dunwell also setting a new best of 2.94m and 3rd place in the B event.  Franek Markiewicz ran a swift 600m finishing 2nd in the B event with 2mins 10.2secs.
