Bicester AC continued their push for promotion from division 3 in their latest Heart of England match held in Redditch. They finished a competitive 3rd out of the 7 competing teams. There were 8 A string wins throughout the afternoon and a total of 35 new bests set. The Bicester male team were 2nd overall and the Bicester female team 3rd.
There was another strong performance from the Bicester under 14 boy’s team as they won their competition. Charlie Simpson was Bicester’s sole A string winner in the 80m hurdles (15.3secs) but an injury picked up in that event hampered his performances in the 1500m metres where he was 3rd (5mins 32.3secs) and the 200m where he finished 5th (30.3 secs). Levi Fulcher’s efforts included a duo of B string wins and new bests in the B 80m hurdles (16.2secs) and 100m where his time of 14.2secs was an EA PB level 5 time. Samuel Wilson enjoyed a good day of competition with 3rd place in the A high jump clearing a new best height of 1.26m as well as setting a new best with 6th in the A long jump (3.56m). Jake Hill continues to progress at pace in the shot and he smashed the 7 metre barrier for the first time with 3rd in the A string and a 7.47m putt. And Brendan Kelly equalled his best in winning the B string high jump (1.10m).
There was another tour de force from Bicester’s under 16 boy’s team as they finished 2nd in their team competition. James Allison became the first Bicester AC athlete for several years to throw over 30m for the javelin as he launched the javelin to 32.8m for a win the A event. Allison also doubled up his A string win tally with a first place in the long jump equalling his best of 5.19m which is an EA PB level 5 mark. Allison also finished 3rd in the A 300m with an EA PB level 6 time of 39.3secs. Timi Alo set a new best in the A string shot for 3rd (7.68m) and also took 3rd in the A 100m (12.6secs). Finlay Harrell secured B string wins in the javelin, where he threw a personal best mark of 18.5m, as well as taking the B shot (4.38m). And Emeras Mohandes’s efforts included a 4th in the A 800m (3mins1.9secs). The team of Allison, Alo, Harrell and Mohandes combined for 2nd place in the 4 by 100m relay (51.6secs).
Bicester AC’s under 16 girls finished a good 2nd in their team competition which included three A string wins. Two of these were from Lily Childs, who completed a sprint double where she won the 100m with a new best and EA PB level 5 time of 13.4secs and the 200m in an EA PB level 6 time of 29.2secs. Childs was also 2nd in her first attempt at the high jump clearing 1.20m. Bicester’s other win came from Megan Surman who continues to perform well on the track and she took the 1500 metres (5mins 34.8secs). There was a superb effort from Grace Fulcher as she putted a new best of 7.35m in the shot for 2nd place in the A event. Her other efforts included a debut javelin where she placed 3rd in the A string with 13.82m. Maya Korn placed 4th in the A string 800m (2mins 46.4secs) and she also set a new best in the 200m with runner up spot in the B event (32.1secs).
There was a good effort from Bicester AC’s under 12 boys quad team as they finished 2nd in their team competition with two A string wins. There was a new personal best and win for Theodore Simms as he took a competitive 75m with an 11.00secs clocking. Simm’s other efforts included a strong performance in the long jump where he was 2nd in the A event in a new best of 3.74. Bicester’s other A string win came in the howler as Barnaby Jones launched the implement out to 28.00m. Jones also set a new best in finishing 5th in the 600m (2mins 12.9secs). Teammate Reece Dunwell was 5th in the B event with 2mins 34.0secs which was a season’s best. And Alex Kelly set a new best in finishing 2nd in the B long jump with 3.41m. Kelly, Dunwell, Simms and Jones then teamed up in the 4 by100m relay where they finished 4th (68.5secs).
Bicester AC’s under 14 girls team had one of their best performances of the summer as they finished a good 3rd in their team competition. Although there were no A string wins there were several top 3 A placings and two B string wins. Ruby Majonga set a new best in finishing 2nd in the a 100m with an EA PB level 6 clocking of 14.0secs. Majonga was also 2nd in the A 200m with an EA PB level 6 clocking of 29.5secs as well as finishing 3rd in the A long jump where she set a new best of 3.74m. Hannah Parsons is preforming well in the throws this summer and she finished a good 2nd in her first ever javelin competition with 16.66m. Parsons was also 3rd in what is probably her strongest event, the 800m, clocking 2mins 47.6secs. Ava Obina won the B javelin in her first attempt at the discipline with a throw of 9.16m and also finished 2nd in the A shot putt (5.07m). And there was a win for Olivia Maxwell in the B 800m (3mins 1.2secs) and she also set a new best in the B string 100m finishing 3rd with an EA PB level 6 time of 14.7secs. The relay team of Majonga, Maxwell, Parsons and Obina finished 3rd in the 4 by 100m relay (61.4secs).
Bicester’s under 12 girl’s team finished 4th in their quad competition but several Bicester athletes set new bests. Josie Harrell achieved the highest A string placing with 2nd in the long jump setting a new best of 3.62m. She also contested her first ever 150m where she placed 5th with 24.8secs. Ottilie Maclean was 4th in the A string howler (17.25m) and she managed new bests in finishing 5th in the A string 75m (12.1secs) and the B string long jump where she finished 3rd (3.15m). Ruby Maxwell continues to improve and she set a new best in the 600m in finishing 4th in the A string (2mins 19.1secs). She also finished runner up in the B howler (14.38m) and set another best in the B string 75m in finishing 5th (12.6secs). Eva Brunt contested her first 150m where she finished 4th in the B string (26.5secs) and she was not far off her best placing 4th in the B 600m (2mins 13.0secs). Harrell, Maclean, Brunt and Maxwell then teamed up to finish 3rd in the 4 by 100 m relay (68.1secs).
