Eight Bicester AC runners were selected to represent Oxfordshire in last weekend’s British Inter County cross country championships held at Loughborough. Three of the eight were in the under 15 boy’s race run over a 4km distance.
Hugo Jinks is enjoying a fine first season’s cross country competition and was the leading under 15 boy finisher in last weekend’s Oxford Mail Cross Country League event. Run over 5km, Jinks was 3rd Oxfordshire finisher finishing 112th in the 313 strong field clocking 14mins 40secs. Louis Bushby has enjoyed a terrific season and kept his form throughout and although not making the team scorers, Bushby ran a creditable 201st in 15mins 09secs. And in form Edward Jolliffe produced another solid effort for 241st in 15mins 28secs)
The Bicester under 13 girls were silver medallists in this year’s Oxford Mail League and two of their number competed for Oxfordshire in Loughborough. On this occasion Anna Jolliffe got the better of teammate Lucy McGrath as she made the Oxfordshire team scorers. Jolliffe place 179th out of the 313 finishers clocking 14mins 40secs for the 3km distance with McGrath finishing 231st in 15mins 09secs.
Amelia Cox made the Oxfordshire scorers as she placed 189th in the 309 strong field in the under 15 girl’s run over 4km clocking 16mins 59secs. And there were county vests for Owen Stocker who was 277th in the under 13 boy’s race (14mins 55secs for 3km) and Samuel Worfolk who was 230th in the under 17 men’s race (22mins 25secs for 6km).
