The mile is a rarely run race distance these days, but Kettering included the mile distance in last Tuesday’s open meeting, and this attracted two Bicester AC athletes.
Jenny Critchley competed in an all-female heat of the mile and ran out a resounding winner. Finishing 8 seconds clear of her nearest rival Critchley clocked 5mins 23.79secs, setting an under 17 woman’s club record for the distance.
Finley Colverson-Martin ran in the men’s heat of the mile and was against several older athletes. He did well to place 5th in the 13 strong field with a 4mins 56.52secs clocking which was an under 17 men’s club record.
