Bicester AC’s under 15 girls enjoyed another very good weekend’s competition setting further personal bests and achieving national standards.  Anna Jolliffe contested one of the heats of the 1,500 metres at last Friday’s Night of the 1,500 Metre Meeting in Nuneaton.  Finishing 2nd in her heat, Jolliffe not only beat her previous best by over 17secs, she established a new under 15 girl’s club record of 4mins 56.18secs which was 11secs inside the best previous mark.  Jolliffe also became the first Bicester AC junior female of any age group to run under 5 mins for 1,500 metres and only narrowly missed achieving the under 15 girl’s national grade 2 standard.

Jenny Critchley returned to what is her best event in last Sunday’s Midland Open Competition also held in Nuneaton.  She also achieved a landmark by decisively breaking the 2mins 30secs barrier for the 800 metres knocking 7secs off her previous best.  She easily won her heat in 2mins 25.16secs which was 5secs clear of her nearest pursuer achieving her first ever national grade 3 standard performance.  Critchley just missed out on the existing club record which has stood for over 23 years.

Edward Jolliffe maintained the personal best theme that has been established over the last couple of weeks.  Competing in a heat of the 3,000 metres at the Midlands Open, Jolliffe knocked 20secs off his previous best clocking 9mins 47.05secs.
