Conditions were kinder to athletes for round 2 of Summer long Motavation road race Series hosted by Kidlington Running Club. Round 2 took place over a 4.2mile circuit at Bletchingdon, one of the harder heats with a sting in the tail in the last mile. Having enjoyed one of their biggest recent Motavation turnouts at race 1, Bicester AC went one better for this round with ten Bicester AC athletes toeing the start line.
Owen Stocker was Bicester’s leading finisher in round 1 but had a fight on his hands in this heat with Isaac Moran making a great leap forward from his round 1 effort. Despite Moran’s best efforts, Stocker just got the verdict at the finish placing 31st out of the 426 finishers. He also took 3rd place in the under 19 male category clocking 25mins 04secs. Bicester AC’s first 4 finishers were all under 19 with Moran in 32nd place, just 2 seconds behind Stocker (25mins 06secs) in what was probably his best run in Bicester colours.
Isaac’s twin brother Joshua was 3rd Bicester finisher and the only other Bicester finisher in the top 100 placing 66th clocking 26mins 33secs. Next in was Ben Groves who was 121st (28mins 15secs). Following close behind was Darren Jolliffe, with Jolliffe finishing 138th (28mins 50secs). Paul Jones just made the top half of finishers clocking 32mins 13secs for 211th. Leanne Stocker was having her first Motavation run of the season and she finished in 292nd (35mins 13secs) placing her in the top half of lady finishers.
There was an improved effort from Tom Gould as he completed the 4.2miles in 38mins 36secs for 342nd. Paul Groves beat more runners on this occasion for 365th (40mins 18secs) and the Bicester finishers were completed by Emily Benfield, who was having her first Motavation race of the season in 393rd (42mins 48secs).
