Bicester AC had 12 athletes at the latest round of the Summer long Motavation road race which reached its half way point at Coombe last Thursday. Although traditionally the shortest of the legs at 3.8miles, Coombe is known for its sting in the tail as runners have to ascend the steepest climb in the series which starts at about 3 miles.
Isaac Moran is enjoying his first Motavation series and he led the Bicester contingent home with a fine 36th placing in the 383 strong field clocking 23mins 36secs. He was one of 5 under 19 Bicester runners competing, all finishing in the top 100. Moran was 4th in the under 17 men’s race. Next in was Owen Stocker who had been Bicester’s leading finisher in the previous rounds. Stocker was not flat out racing on this occasion but still placed 65th clocking 24mins 44secs. Ben Groves produced his best performance on the road with a superb 67th just one second behind Stocker (24mins 45secs). Joshua Moran has performed well during the Summer and he again ran well for 74th (24mins 54secs).
Anna Jolliffe finished first under 19 lady finisher for the 2nd time in this year’s series placing 79th with 25mins 01sec where she also placed 5th overall lady finisher out of the 150 lady competitors. Darren Jolliffe improved on his Bletchingdon run finishing 116th (26mins 45secs). Next in was Paul Jones who was comfortably inside the top half of finishers in 161st (28mins 25secs). Leanne Stocker ran well for 224th 930mins 56secs) and she was over 3 minutes in front of Bicester’s next finisher Tom Gould who was 294th (34mins 17secs).
Paul Groves completed his third race of the series finishing in 347th (38mins 46secs). He was ahead of Emily Benfield who was 361st (39mins 46secs) with Orla Welby having her first race of the season closing the Bicester finishers in 364th position (40mins 34secs).
