The final round of the Motavation Road Race Series took place on 31 August at Stratfield Brake.  The final leg was run on a more multi-terrain surface than road so offered a slightly different challenge to the runners.  Bicester AC has enjoyed one of its best turnouts for years in this series and a total of 9 Bicester AC athletes formed part of the 329 strong field.  There was another strong team showing with 6 of the 9 making the top 63 finishers and 8 of the 9 finishing in the top half.

Anna Jolliffe has competed consistently through the series and produced one of her best performances in the final round.  She was the top under 19 lady finisher in three of the four races that she competed in but came up against Isla McGowan who is one of the country’s leading endurance runners.  However, she still performed well to finish 2nd Bicester athlete and clocking 25mins 09 secs for the approximate 4 mile distance.  The only Bicester runner to best Anna home on this occasion was her brother Edward who was 30th (24mins 21secs).  Jolliffe’s consistently strong performances throughout the series earned her the first place award in the under 19 lady series standings.

Bicester’s next finisher was the much-improved Ben Groves who achieved his highest placing of the series in 52nd (25mins 16secs).  In an earlier race Groves finished 121st which is an indication of the progress he has made during Summer.  Owen Stocker was given the same time as Groves and placed in 53rd.  Stocker has enjoyed a good Summer’s competition competing well on the track and achieved two top three under 19 placings in the series.  Next man in was Joshua Moran who was 57th clocking 25mins 25secs with twin brother Isaac 12 seconds adrift in 63rd.  Both of the Morans have competed well throughout the Summer with Isaac’s 31st placing at Bletchingdon the 3rd highest placing in the series by a Bicester AC athlete.

Darren Jolliffe just missed out on a top 100 spot but made the top third of finishers in 109th position in 27mins 14secs.  Jolliffe has competed in every race throughout the series and apart from a blip at Bletchingdon has performed consistently well throughout the series and was again Bicester’s top non under 19 male finisher.  Paul Jones completed four of the five races and produced another creditable performance to comfortably make the top half of finishers in 149th (29mins 07secs).  And Emily Benfield completed the Bicester finishers with what was one of her best performances of the series finishing 288th (38mins 12secs).
