Six Bicester AC athletes were picked to represent Oxfordshire at last Saturday’s national inter county cross country championships held in Loughborough.  Bicester’s athletes equipped themselves well against the cream of British cross country runners.  With four to score Anna Jolliffe had the honour of leading the Oxfordshire team home in the under 17 woman’s race held over 5km.  Jolliffe placed 136th in the 258 strong field clocking 24mins 29secs.  The Oxfordshire team finished in 31st place.  

There were two Bicester runners amongst the Oxfordshire under 17 mean’s team that competed over a 6km course.  The Oxfordshire team finished a respectable 18th out of the 39 finishing teams.  Neither Bicester man made the scoring team with Owen Stocker the leading Bicester finisher in 211th (24mins 34secs), in a field that included 272 finishers.  It was a close run thing with Finlay Colverson-Martin just two places behind in 213th (24mins 36secs).

Bicester’s Darragh Cassidy was selected for the under 13 boy’s race run over 3km.  Cassidy finished 237th out of the 292 finishers clocking 14mins 49secs.  Bicester also had a representative in the under 13 girl’s race also run over 3km with Ella Myers Finnegan placing 265th (16mins 30secs) in a field that included 300 finishers.  And Bicester’s Ben Groves earned an Oxfordshire selection in the under 20 men’s race with Groves making the scoring team placing 151st clocking 36mins 52secs over the race distance of 8km.
