For the second time this summer a long standing Bicester AC distance club record was broken and not by the same athlete. Ever improving Max Nicolle broke the under 15 boy’s 3000 metres record which had stood for over 20 years. Previously held by Alex Flynn, who is son of current club Chair Steve Flynn, Nicolle set a new mark of 9 mins 39.45secs, which was just a fraction inside the old mark. Nicolle produced his fine run at last Wednesday’s open meeting at Watford. Nicolle’s time moved him to 32nd in the national rankings and comes just three weeks after setting a trio of personal bests in the Oxfordshire Junior League which included new best marks in the 1500 metres, 300 metres and shot putt.
