Three Bicester AC athletes journeyed to Horspath for the opening track and field open meeting held last Wednesday.  It was a good evening for Django La Porte, who was competing in his first event of the season.  Pitched in to the fastest 100m heat La Porte, who will be competing as an under 20 this season, showed that he had lost none of his old dash.  He finished 4th out of the 8 competing athletes with an EA pb level 4 mark of 11.61secs which was tantalisingly 0.01 secs short of his personal best.  However La Porte did have the consolation of setting a new under men’s 100m club record erasing the mark previously held by George Weston.

There was another personal best for Leo Blyton, who consolidated on his fine start to the season.  Pitched into a competitive 1500 metres heat, and racing against older athletes, Blyton performed well to finish 8th out of the 12 competing athletes. And once again he lowered his 1500 metre best with a pb grade time of  4mins 40.29secs.

Georgia Bower enjoyed mixed fortunes in her two events.  She was below her best in what was a competitive heat of the 100 metres finishing 7th in a pb level mark of 13.7secs.  However she produced a season’s best in the long jump placing 8th of the 19 competitors with a pb level 4 mark of 4.52m.
