There was another Bicester AC strong turnout in the final Oxfordshire Cross Country League event of the season held in Henley. On a tough and hilly course Bicester AC enjoyed an eventful day. There have been several improvers throughout the season, testament to the quality of coaching received during the winter.
Run of the day came from Hugo Jinks who finished 3rd in the under 15/17 men’s race in what was only his 3rd run for the club. Jinks clocked 20mins 07secs for the near 4.8km course which was just 43secs off the winning time. Jinks was also the leading under 15 finisher on the day and led the Bicester team home to an excellent 2nd in the team race on the day and 3rd team in the final standings. Samuel Worfolk produced another fine effort for 9th (20mins 52secs) placing 6th in the under 17 men’s final standings. The team scorers were completed by Edward Jolliffe producing one of his best ever cross country runs for 13th (21mins 27secs). Next in for Bicester was Louis Bushby 16th in 22mins 19secs and he was rewarded for his overall season’s efforts with 4th place in the final under 15 boy’s standings. Other Bicester finishers were Michael Cadle 25th (23mins 16secs), Michael Alborzpour 30th (23mins 57secs), Romi Edwards 35th (25mins 59secs) and Jacob Neal 36th (26mins 13secs).
Bicester AC’s under 13 girls completed what has been a fine season with another 2nd in the team race, which was good enough for runner up spot in the final team standings. Lucy McGrath and Anna Jolliffe recorded the same time of 11mins 44secs for the near 2.5k course for 5th and 6th place respectively and both finished 5th in the final individual standings. The team scorers were completed by Imogen Cox, showing fine from at the back end of the season for 11th (12mins 23secs). She finished just in front of Isabella Couzens showing a big improvement on previous form to take 12th (12mins 26secs).
Jago Newton was Bicester highest placer in the individual final standings. Once again he ran splendidly for 2nd place in the under 9 mixed race for equal 2nd place in the final standings. There was a good effort from Bicester debutant Alexander Gubbins who was 10th and Zachary Evans improved on his last race effort to place 16th. Other Bicester finishers were Tom Court (21st), Amber Busby (27th), Emelie Stocker (46th) and Olivia Nadou-Johnson (48th).
There was a good turnout of Bicester AC runners in the under 11 girl’s race run over a near 1.5k course. Elsie Jacobs has been Bicester’s stand out performer in this age group and she again led the team home in 15th (7mins 26secs). Abigail Jones again performed well for 22nd (8mins 03secs). Bicester’s other finishers were Bethany Wetton 32nd (8mins 28secs), Cloe Greenaway 35th (8mins 36secs), Isabel Smith 42nd (8mins 58secs), Maya Evans 44th (9mins 07secs), Annie Rose Willis 47th (9mins 14secs), Scarlett Hart 48th (9mins 27secs) and Eloise Le Monnier Pres 50th (9mins 55secs).
Ever improving Thomas Auty produced one of his finest cross country runs for 16th place in the under 11 boy’s race run over a near 1.5k course clocking 7mins 30secs).
Next in for Bicester was Lewis Harris in 28th (8mins 02secs) ahead of Cameron Slevin who produced an eye-catching effort for 30th (8mins 06secs). Other Bicester placings were Joshua Scrivener 33rd (8mins 13secs), George Hart 39th (8mins 30secs) and Simon Cheeseman 44th (10mins 04secs).

Owen Stocker placed 15th in the under 13 boy’s race over the near 2.5k course (11mins 12secs). One of the Bicester’s biggest improvers over the season Stocker was a commendable 8th in the final standings. Bicester’s next finisher was Timothy Jones in 20th (11mins 39secs) with Robert Charlton 30th (14mins 05secs). Amelia Cox made a welcome return in the under 15/17 girl’s race finishing a good 12th in 18mins 52secs with Lucy Montague the other Bicester finisher in 33rd (23mins 31secs).
