Bicester AC’s Amelia Cox produced the finest run of her career in the penultimate round of the Oxford Mail Cross League event staged last Sunday at Swindon. Some 20 Bicester runner braved the difficult terrain and it was Bicester’s most improved performer Cox who produced the run of the day. Running in the under 15/17 girl’s race Cox was a magnificent 2nd just 13 seconds behind the winner in a time of 16mins 08secs. However, Cox produced her first ever age Oxford Mail age group win as she was the top under 15 girl. It is testament to Cox’s improvement as she improved 10 places on her only other run in the Oxford Mail League this season.  Bicester’s other finisher was Lucy Tear who was 29th in 22mins 08 secs Bicester’s highest place runner in the overall standings remains Max Nicolle who is 2nd in the under 15 boy’s standings with one race remaining. Nicolle was a strong 4th in the under 15/17 boy’s race clocking 19mins 52secs. He led the team home in 4th place on the day.  There was another tight race in the season long battle between Samuel Worfolk and Edward Jolliffe. And on this occasion, it was Worfolk who prevailed placing 17th in 21mins 18secs just one place and 15 seconds in advance of Jolliffe. Michael Alborzpour was Bicester’s other finisher in 27th place (23mins 45secs) Bicester’s under 13 boys’ team was also 4th with the team headed home by Timothy Jones who was 13th in 11mins 18secs. He is still one position down in the standings on Michael Cadle who was 16th on the day (11mins 37secs). Credited with the same time was Freddie Rendell who was 17th.  Bicester’s other finishers were Harry Rendell in 26th (12mins 38secs) who was one place in front of Sami Singer (12mins 50secs) Owen Stocker ran a fine race in the under 11 boy’s race to finish 10th in 6mins 17secs.  Django La Porte turned around places with clubmate Kyle Rayson as he finished 27th (7mins 7secs) just 6 seconds in front of Rayson who was 31st. And in the under 13 girl’s race Imogen Cox was Bicester’s top finisher in 15th place (12mins 23secs) with Anna Jolliffe 25th in 13mins 19secs.
