The much delayed final Oxfordshire Junior League meeting took place at Horspath last Sunday and once again Bicester AC maintained their excellent record in under 9 and under 11 events winning both the under 9 and under 11 team competitions and taking the under 9 boy’s competition for good measure.
There was an excellent individual performance in the under 11 boy’s event with Tom Couzens defeating 35 other competitors in the quad event which is a junior version of the decathlon. Couzens was the fastest 600 metre runner on show breaking the 2 minte barrier (1mins 57 secs) and threw a massive 38.5 metres for the longest howler. Not to be outdone Millie Couzens won the under 9 quad event producing the best performance in each of the 4 events including a swift sub 13 second 75 metres (12.85 secs). Under 11 girl Holly Griffith Brown also competed well finishing 2nd overall out of the 55 competitors which included a sub 12 second 75 metres (11.98secs).
Bicester had a good day in the boy’s throwing events with victories for Jake Cherry in the under 13 discuss (18.66m) and Lewys Jones in the under 13 javelin (20.20m). However pride of place went to Jack Clements in the discus as he threw over 30 metres (31.03m) to take the under 17 event.
