Bicester AC fielded a total of 28 runners in the latest Oxfordshire Cross Country League fixture held in Lawns Park Swindon. This was a challenging circuit with plenty of cross – country mud and accompanied by a keen wind.  Elsie Jacobs continued her fine cross – country season with another stellar performance in the under 11 girl’s race. She achieved her 4th consecutive top Oxfordshire League top two finish with 2nd in the under 11 girl’s race clocking 6mins 04secs for the 1.44km course and remains in 2nd place in the under 11 girl league standings.  Ella Myers- Finnegan is enjoying a fine first season’s competition for the club and she was again in the top ten (9th in 6mins 49secs). Abigail Jones is a much-improved runner this season and she was 12th (6mins 56secs) with an improving Amber Busby 15th in 7mins 04secs.  Bicester’s other under 11 girl finishers were Scarlett Lambert (21st in 7mins 22secs) and Eloise LeMonnier -Press (41st in 9mins 09secs).

Not for the first time this season Bicester’s under 15 girls performed strongly despite being at the junior end of the extended of the under 15/17 girl’s race.  Anna Jolliffe led the team home with another strong performance finishing 5th and clocking 16mins 08secs for the 3.66km circuit.  Lucy McGrath again performed well for 10th (16mins 43secs) and Jenny Critchley closed the team scorers in 18th (17mins 29secs) with the team placing 3rd on the day.  Bicester’s other runner Imogen Cox made a welcome return to action in 24th (18mins 43secs).

Hugo Jinks ran a very competitive race in the under 15/17 men’s race with a strong performance for 5th clocking 19mins 28secs for the 5.08km course.  Samuel Worfolk was Bicester’s next finisher in 18th (21mins 23secs) with debutant Finley Colverson-Martin closing the team scorers with a race of promise for 24th (22mins 01secs).  Bicester’s other finishers were Michael Cadle 31st (22mins 49secs), Timothy Jones 37th (24mins 10secs) and Ben Groves 39th (124mins 48secs).

There was misfortune for Bicester’s Owen Stocker at the start of the under 13 boy’s event.  One of his running shoes became a victim of the cloying mud 50 metres into the race leaving Stocker with one shoe.  He battled on in brave fashion and managed to finish in 16th timed at 10mins 54secs for the 2.54km course.  Bicester’s next finisher was Robert Charlton in 24th (11mins 31secs) whilst Stanley Critchley showed great determination to finish in 48th place (23mins 00secs).

The under 11 boy’s event was contested over a shortened course (1.05m).  Jago Newton was Bicester’s sole competitor and he battled well for 12th (4mins 43secs).  Bicester had 4 runners competing in the under 9 mixed race which was also run over a 1.05m course.  Sophie Lewis was Bicester’s best finisher in 21st with Finlay Haynes 30th, Cyrus Ariana 33rd and Emelie Stocker 40th.

There were just two Bicester AC runners in the under 13 girl’s race run over 2.48km with Megan Myers-Finnegan 43rd (14mins 49secs) and Freya Derry 46th (16mins 52secs).  And Bicester had a competitor in each of the two senior races with Emma Gould (vet lady 45) finishing 135th (45mins 11secs) in the lady’s race run over 6.3380km.  In the men’s race Arran Critchley (vet male 45) was 232nd timed at 51mins 44secs for the 8.85km circuit.
