There were three Bicester AC team victories provided by the under 11 boy and girl

and under 15 girl’s teams at the recent 4th round of the Oxfordshire Sportshall League held in Kidlington.  With one event remaining Bicester’s combined under 11 boy and girls’ team hold a healthy lead of 48 points over Banbury.  Bicester’s under 15 girl’s team hold a commanding lead over their nearest rivals after round 4 with the under 15 boy’s team in 2nd place.  And the combined under 13 boy and girls’ team are in 3rd place just 4 points behind 2nd placed Banbury. 

The Bicester under 11 boy’s team won their event by a comfortable margin of 12 points with wins in three events.  There was an outstanding win in the speed bounce competition with the Bicester quartet of Charlie Simpson, Shay Gallagher, Franciszek Markiewicz and Theodore Simms scoring a combined total of 202 bounces with Simpson producing another superb score of 59 bounces, 7 higher than his nearest competitor.  Simpson (40.3secs) then combined with Felix Cassidy (43.30secs) to finish first equal in the three lap event with Simpson’s time the 2nd fastest individual time.  The Bicester A team of Shay Gallagher, Ralph Saunders, Levi Fulcher and Charlie Simpson produced the second fastest 4 by 1 lap relay time of 52secs and their time combined with Bicester’s B team clocking of 54secs led to an overall Bicester winning time. 

There was an exciting conclusion to the under 11 girl’s competition with Banbury holding a narrow lead of 1 point over Bicester with Oxford a further one point behind going into the final event.  A strong performance was required from the 4 by 1 lap relay quartets and Bicester’s A team of Hannah Parsons, Brianna Senior, Ruby Majonga and Olivia Neptune duly obliged with what was the best time of the day (52.0secs).  When their time was combined with Bicester’s B quartet, the combined clocking of 112.6secs was just 0.6secs behind Oxford City’s time with the Banbury quartets back in 3rd.  This resulted in a three way tie in the final team scores with Bicester sharing first place with Oxford and Banbury.  Olivia Neptune had an outstanding competition producing the fastest time in the one lap event (12.80secs) and then combining with Ruby Majonga (1.66m) to win the standing long jump, where her leap of 1.79m was the best individual jump.  Neptune also combined with Lorelei Whelan, Ottillie Maclean and Brianna Senior to win the first event of the day, the obstacle relay, with a 1min 31.2secs clocking.  April Perry also competed for Bicester and her efforts included a score of 38 in the non scoring speed bounce.

Bicester’s under 15 girl’s team were in outstanding form with another superb win in the team competition which included a number of good individual performances.  Goergia Bower finished 2nd in the all rounder competition with 58 points which included a win in the standing long jump with a 2.16m leap as well as strong 2nds in the shot with another 7 metre plus putt (7.24m) and a 23.9secs clocking in the 2 lap event which was 0.2secs off the winning time.  Olivia Naidu Johnson placed 3rd in the all rounder competition with the 3rd best clocking in the 1 lap event (24.1secs) and 3rd best speed bounce score (79).  The winning Bicester team scorers were completed by Grace Jarvey whose efforts included a 2nd in the speed bounce (80) and Lily Spencer who produced a leap of 1.81m in the standing long jump.  And the Bicester quartet of Bower, Naidu Johnson, Jarvey and Yasmine Shephard were easy winners of the relay (1min 36.9secs).

Bicester had three competitors in the under 15 boy’s event with Erlgean Appiahkorang-Mensah finishing 3rd in the overall competition which included a win in the 4 lap event (47.8secs).  Roman Haverly was competing in his 2nd sportshall event of the winter and he emerged victorious in the speed bounce with a score of 80.  Haverly then combined with Appiahkorang-Mensah to take the paarlauf (1min 35.4secs).  Thomas Perry was Bicester’s other team scorer and his efforts included a 5.59m putt in the shot.

Bicester’s under 13 boy’s team had just the one win but a solid team performance saw them finish 3rd.  Their sole win came in the shot with Finlay Haynes producing the longest putt of the day (7.02m) with Samuel Naidu-Johnson producing the best B string putt (5.46m).  The Bicester AC quartet of Naidu-Johnson, Cyrus Ariana, Finley Harrell and Harry Spencer were a competitive 3rd in the 4 by 2 lap relay clocking 1min 41secs.  And the combination of Ariana (24,20secs) and Spencer (25.90secs) were 0.4secs behind second placed Banbury in finishing 3rd in the 2 lap event with a combined clocking of 50.1secs. Bicester under 13 girl’s amassed a respectable total of 35 points on the way to finishing 4th in their team competition.  There were no event wins but the team did manage 4 second places .  The quartet of Erin Griffiths, Grace Fulcher, Ava Metcalfe and Liv Babister were denied victory in the 4 by 2 lap event by one tenth of a second (1min 44.6secs).  Erin Griffiths was making her competitive debut for the club and she combined with Liv Babister (26.2secs) for 2nd in the one lap event with the 3rd fastest individual clocking (25.6secs).  Liv Babister combined with Evie Kemp, who was also making her Bicester competitive debut, for 2nd in the speed bounce with Babister producing the 2nd highest score of 75.  And the quartet of Kemp, Griffiths, Metcalfe and Fulcher combined to take 2nd in the obstacle race (1min 27.5secs)
