There was a rare Bicester AC performance in an indoor competitive athletics event as Kyle Rayson competed in the Southern Indoor Combined Events Championship held recently at Lee Valley.  Rayson produced his finest combined events performance finishing runner up in the under 15 boy’s event amassing a total of 2,309 points, almost 900 points better than his previous combined event outing in the Summer.  This was also Rayson’s first ever competitive indoor athletic event outside of sportshall competitions.

During the course of the event, Rayson bettered 4 of his outdoor bests and was making his debut in the 5th.  He just fell short of a national grade standard in the long jump but bettered his previous best in this event with a leap of 4.98m.  He also bettered his outdoor mark in the high jump with a new personal best leap of 1.48m.  Rayson produced a big improvement in the shot, where his best putt was over a metre further than his previous best (7.44m).

Rayson was the top performer in the two running events.  Although he competes in 80m metre events outdoors, Rayson was making his debut in the 60m hurdles version and produced the fastest time in the event with a 9.72secs clocking.  And in the 800 metres, Rayson beat his best outdoor clocking by an impressive 16.73secs (2mins 36.17secs)
