Ten Bicester athletes travelled to The Triangle, Burgess Hill to represent Oxfordshire at the Under 11 South East Fun in Athletics Regional Festival on 12th January 2014.


In the Under 11 Boys competition Josiah Edwards-Giraud had an excellent day taking 1st place in the chest push event and 2nd place in the speed bounce. Edwards-Giraud was also a crucial part of the Grand Prix relay team who won their close and exciting race. Thomas Kavanagh gained an excellent 3rd place in the vertical jump, and with Lucas Williams took 5th place in the 2+2 lap relay. George Starkey-Vickers finished in 6th place individually in the balance test, helping the team to 4th place in this event. To finish the day the Bicester trio of Ellis Griffiths-Brown, Williams, Edwards-Giraud ran with Oliver Clamp from Banbury Harriers to take 6th place in a very fast and close 4×1 lap relay race. The Oxfordshire Under 11 Boys team finished the day in an excellent 4th place overall.

Rushani Arumugham produced some of the performances of the day against tough competition. She took 1st place in the vertical jump and equal 1st in the balance test. Arumugham then ran with club mate Georgie Cordy in the 2+2 lap relay to win their heat. Cordy was the highest Oxfordshire finisher in the chest push event, gaining 12th place. Millie Couzens gained an equal 1st place finish in the balance test and with Arumugham and Amelia Cox helped the team to a 2nd place finish in the event. Couzens also finished in 8th place in a close vertical jump competition, only 3cm behind the winner. Katie Ford finished 14th individually to help the Oxfordshire girls gain 2nd place in the speed bounce. The Oxfordshire Under 11 Girls finished the day in 8th place overall.
