Bicester Athletic Club had 9 young athletes representing Oxfordshire in the under 11 Fun in Athletics Regional Sportshall Athletics competition held in Burgess Hill on 11th January. The teams and supporters had an enjoyable day with some very close and exciting competitions. Up against competition from teams from Berkshire, Buckinghamshire, Hampshire, Isle of Wight, Kent, Surrey, and Sussex, the Oxfordshire young athletes performed very well.
Isabella Hopkins balanced to individual 1st place with a maximum time in the balance test, for the girls team, with Emilia Sims finishing 9th. Millie Couzens with Olivia Barton of Oxford City ran a superb 6 lap paarlauf relay taking 2nd place. Amelia Cox threw the soft javelin to 4th place. The girls team finished 7th place overall.
For the boys team Sean Lock, Elliott Keeble, and Morgan Attrill ran an excellent grand prix relay, which included tunnels and hurdles to win their heat. Edward Jolliffe was part of the quartet who took 3rd place in the obstacle relay. Sam Rayson jumped 1.82metres in the standing long jump for 15th place. The boys team finished in 5th place overall.
