Six Bicester AC athletes made the trip to Rugby for the last Youth Development Lower Midlands North East division match of the season which took place recently at Rugby.  Five of the six athletes also competed in the following day’s Oxfordshire League Match.  There were some creditable performances with 14 out of 18 Bicester AC performances personal bests.

Kyle Mcleod has been in splendid form in his first season of athletics and enjoyed a trio of personal bests.  This included a very good win in a competitive under 13 boy’s 75m where he smashed his previous best with a national 3 grade time of 10.5secs.  Mcleod also achieved a national graded time in finishing 3rd in the 150 metres with 21.3secs as well as running 3rd in the 800m (2mins 42secs).

Kyle Rayson produced a superb win in the under 15 boy’s 80m hurdles with his first sub 13 second clocking (12.9secs) which was also a national grade 4 clocking. Rayson also leapt to a new personal best in the long jump for 4th place (4.75m).

Bicester had two girls in the under 13 girls events.  Angelica Bird equalled her personal best in finishing 2nd in the high jump (1.25m).  She also set a new best mark in the long jump (3.52m) placing 4th in the A event with teammate Amber Busby 3rd in the B string, also with a personal best (3.28m).  Busby also set new personal bests in the 800m (2mins 57.2secs) as well as the 150m (23.7secs).

In the under 15 girl’s events, Katie Groves jumped well for 3rd in the high jump with a new best clearance of 1.35m.  She was supported by teammate Bethany Wetton who was 3rd in the B event, also with a new best clearance of 1.25m.  Groves also placed 3rd in the shot putt (6.88m) and set a further best in placing 4th in the long jump (4.15m).  And Bethany Wetton lowered her previous best in the 800m finishing 4th (3mins 4.5secs)
