A contingent of Bicester athletes made the trip to Tipton for last Saturday’s first round of the UK Development League Midlands 1C match held at Tipton staged in blustery conditions. Overall the team finished in 5th place.
Samuel Rayson was again in fine form winning the under 15 boy’s 80m hurdles (14.3secs) and jumping beyond 5 metres for the first time (5.01m) in taking 2nd place in the Long Jump. Rayson also won the high jump with 1.58m with teammate Ben Groves taking the B event (1.50m). Groves also took the under 15 boy’s B Long Jump with 4.49m.
Kyle Rayson was a winner taking the under 13 boy’s A string 75m hurdles with 15.7secs and produced a very good run for a debut 200 metres winning the B string in 31.2secs.
Competing in her first season for Bicester Lily Honour took the under 15 girl’s javelin with a new personal best throw of 18.97m with Emily Horring 2nd in the B (14.82m). There was a strong contingent of Bicester under 15 girls. Jenny Critchley just missed out on a personal best in finishing 4th in the 800m (2mins 40.5secs) with Anna Jolliffe taking the B string (2mins 45secs). Freya McGinlay competed well in the shot putt with 4th (7.35m) and she was supported by Charlotte Kavanagh who putted a new personal best with 3rd in the B string (6.11m). And the 4 by 100 metre relay team of Lily Honour, Emily Horring, Isal Bohannon and Freya Mcginlay combined well to take 2nd place in the 4 by 100 metre relay (61.8secs). Amy Willis took a couple of 3rd places in her first competition of the Summer clocking 49.1secs in the 300 metres and jumping 3.84m in the Long Jump. There were two new personal bests for Hollie Offord in the under 13 girl’s Long Jump (3.93m) where she finished 2nd and 3rd in the 75m (11.7secs). Offord was also a good 2nd in the 150m (23.5secs). And in his first competition for the club, Luiz Oliveira did well to take 3rd place in the under 15 boy’s discus (15.63m) with Ciaran Flynn taking 3rd in the B (13.78m). Django La Porte also produced a personal best in the under 13 boy’s Long Jump with 3.57m.
