Bicester AC and Witney had a small contingent of athletes out for last weekend’s UK Youth Development League Upper Age Group Midlands Division 1A North East match held at Leamington.
There were plenty of wins amongst the Group despite the hot and sticky conditions. Not for the first time this season Tia Brown produced a tidy set of results. She just missed out on equalling her personal best in the under 17 girl’s 100 metres with a win and a national grade 4 standard clocking of 13.1secs. Brown was also near her best in the long jump (4.40m) where she finished 2nd and the 200 metres (3rd in 28.5secs).
Thomas Kavanagh won the under 17 men’s 800 metres only just missing out on his best for the season (2mins 19.4secs) and also produced a very good long jump (4.56m) where he was 4th. Sam White was 4th in the under 17 men’s B Long Jump (4.01m) as well as contesting the 100 metres where he was 6th (12.7secs). Bicester’s other competitor Connor Stark produced a double first taking on the notoriously difficult 1500 metre steeplechase (7mins 43.7secs) as well as achieving a personal best in the 100m hurdles (21.9secs).
