The final round of the Oxfordshire Track and Field League took place recently at Tilsley Park Abingdon. There was some hot competition from other clubs and individual wins were had to come by with just one apiece for Bicester A and B strings.
The under 14 boys achieved Bicester’s best team position finishing 4th with 95 points which was just 7 points away from 2nd place. Highlight for the under 14 boys was the 4 by 100 metre relay where the Bicester quartet finished 2nd with their fastest time of the summer. The quarter of Oliver Jarvey, Charlie Simpson, Jake Hill and Levi Fulcher clocked a superb 54.40secs. This time was inside the existing League record but they were pipped at the post by a strong Radley team. Jarvey was in superb form in the individual events. Jarvey finished 2nd in a competitive 100metres with his first ever sub 13secs clocking. His time of 12.9secs was an EA PB level 6 time. Jarvey was also close to his best in the long jump with an EA PB level 7 leap of 5.00m which was again good enough for 2nd place. Jarvey also threw over 20 metres in the long jump for the first time with 24.13m for 5th in the A event. Levi Fulcher was in sparkling form in the field events. He set a new best for 2nd in the A string with an under 13 boy’s EA PB level 6 mark of 1.35m. Teammate Samuel Wilson also set a new best of 1.30m in winning the B long jump which was an under 13 boy’s EA PB level 5 mark. Fulcher also threw over 20m for the first time for 2nd in the B event with an EA PB level 5 mark of 23.00m. Charlie Simpson’s efforts included a swift 2nd place in the A 200m with an EA PB level 6 mark of 27.10secs. Jake Hill putted over 7 metres in the shot (7.02m) for 4th in the A string. And there was a new best for Brendan Kelly in the javelin in finishing 3rd in the B event (13.76m).
Bicester’s one A string win of the day came in the under 18 women’s long jump. Georgia Bower won this with an EA PB level 5 mark of 4.87m and her other efforts included a 2nd place in the 100m with a 13.2secs clocking.
Bicester ACs’ Theodore Simms and Barnaby Jones both enjoyed strong competitions in the under 12 boy’s quad competition. Both amassed a total of 200 points plus with Theodore Simms leading the way in 18th place with 220 points in the 58 strong field. Simms has enjoyed a strong season but still managed another personal best in his four quad events throwing 28.53m in the howler. Jones placed 21st with 213 points and his efforts included bests in the howler (33.65m) and long jump (3.02m). Other Bicester athletes included Tom Fiala in 41st (174 points), Reece Dunwell in 55th (112 points) and Jenson Ash 58th (88 points).
Ottilie Maclean was one of 4 Bicester girls in the under 12 girl’s quad competition. She finished a strong 15th out of the 50 competing athletes amassing 181 points. Her efforts included personal bests in the long jump (3.34m) and the howler (22.83m). Josie Harrell finished 23rd with 173 points which included a swift new best in the 75m (12.0secs) and a new best in the 600m (2mins 28.4secs). Other Bicester placers included Eva Brunt in 28th (157 points) and Ruby Maxwell 36th (137 points).
The under 16 boys won their team competition in the last Oxfordshire League round in Banbury but it was not to be on this occasion as they finished 5th. James Allison has competed well in a number of different athletic disciplines over the summer. Allision was runner up in both the A shot putt (9.95m) and long jump (4.59m). Raef Holden’s efforts included a new best in finishing 5th in the A 100m with an EA PB level 5 time of 12.20secs and a 20 metre plus in finishing 3rd in the B javelin (22.01m). And Timi Alo’s efforts included a 4th in the A discus (13.89m).
Bicester AC’s under 16 girls team amassed 69 points in their team competition for 6th place. Erin Griffiths achieved the highest placing in the A string events with 3rd in the long jump (4.04m) with teammate Neive Lehane setting a new best of 3.76m in finishing 2nd in the B event. Grace Fulcher’s efforts included a 6th in the A string shot putt (6.97m) with teammate Maya Korn 4th in the B shot (5.82m). And Megan Surman was 4th in the A 800m (2mins 47.6secs) with teammate Maya Korn 2nd in the B event (2mins 55.8secs). The quartet of Griffiths, Korn, Fulcher and Lehane were 6th in the 4 by 100m relay (63.1secs).
Ruby Majonga has competed well over the summer and her efforts included a 3rd place in a competitive under 14 girl’s A 100m in an EA PB level 5 time of 14.30secs. Olivia Maxwell placed 4th in a competitive under 14 girl’s B long jump (3.33m). And Hannah Parsons stepped up in distance in the under 14 girl’s A 1500 metres placing 5th in 6mins 1.90secs.
Aida Fraser, in only her 2nd under 10 girl’s quad competition made the top half of finishers placing 12th in the 28 strong field with 114 points. She recorded two new bests in the 75m (13.6secs) and the howler (15.90m). Sienna Scott-Haynes enjoyed a good competition placing 14th with 111 points which includes four new bests in the 75m (13.6secs), long jump (2.54m), 600m (2mins 37.4secs) and the howler (12.31m).
Luca Wilson was best placed Bicester AC athlete in the under 10 boy’s quad competition. He finished 22nd in the 34 strong field with 133 points which included new bests in the 60m (13.6secs) and 19.77m in the howler. David Fiala competed strongly to finish 26th with 123 points which included bests in the 75m where he ran a swift 12.4secs, 2mins 15.5secs in the 600m and 2.16m in the long jump. Bicester’s other placings were Sam Dipple in 27th (103 points) and Rafferty Simms 32nd (76 points).
