Bicester AC contested their final lower age group Midland North and East C UK Development League fixture held recently in Nuneaton. They finished 4th on the day and a very creditable 3rd in the final league standings out of the five competing teams.
Bicester’s under 14 boy’s team came up against a very strong Birmingham Running and Tri Club team but still managed a strong 2nd in their team contest. Although there were no wins in either A or B strings, every performance earned a top three placing. Oliver Jarvey produced an EA PB level 6 performance in the long jump to finish 2nd (4.71m) and also placed 3rd in both of the A string sprints clocking close to his best in the 100m (13.5secs) and 28.0secs in the 200m. Levi Fulcher equalled his best in the high jump with an EA PB level 5 clearance of 1.30m to finish 2nd and he also produced a new best in the 80m hurdles (15.6secs) also for 2nd place. Charlie Simpson contested two of the throwing events and in his first ever discus produced a good effort of 16.41m for 2nd. Simpson also set a new best in the shot with a putt of 6.48m for 2nd as well as finishing 2nd in the 800m (2mins 36.1secs). Jake Hill’s efforts included a good 3rd in a competitive B string 100m(14.6secs). And Brendan Kelly set a new best of 1.15m in the B string high jump (1.15m). Jack Lander – Farrow’s efforts included a 2nd place in the 1500 metres (5mins 20.1secs). And the quartet of Hill, Jarvey, Simpson and Fulcher produced the fastest time by a Bicester AC under 14 boy’s 4 by 100m relay quartet this season to finish runner up in 55.7secs.
The Bicester AC under 16 boy’s team finished 4th. Thomas Andrade ran in his first league match for Bicester AC and showed up well in the three events he contested. He jumped a superb 5.01m in his first ever competitive long jump for 3rd in the A string and he was also 3rd in the A 100m (12.5secs). He also ran a new personal best in finishing 2nd in the B 200m (26.4secs). There was also a new personal best for Emeras Mohandes who leapt 3.66m for 4th in the B event. Timi Alo set a new best in finishing 3rd in the A string discus (16.20m) and his other efforts included 3rd places in the A 200m (26.1secs) and A shot putt (6.89m). Finley Harrell competed well in his three events which included a new personal best in the A javelin where he finished 4th (20.59m), 2nd in the B shot (6.84m) and 4th in the B 100m (13.3secs).
Bicester had three athletes competing across the two girl age groups. The one Bicester win of the day came in the A string 800m with Maya Korn winning in 2mins 45.6secs. She was also under 50secs in finishing 3rd in the A 300m (49.2secs) and 2nd in the B shot putt (5.68m). Grace Fulcher again putted over 7m in the shot putt to finish 3rd in the A string (7.06m). She also ran a new best in finishing 5th in the A 200m (32.1secs) as well as 2nd in the A string discus (11.82m). The team finished 5th in their competition. Olivia Maxwell was Bicester’s sole representative in the under 14 girl’s competition finishing 4th in the 100m (16.3secs) and 4th in the long jump (3.11m). The under 14 girl’s team finished 4th.
